About The Artist
Farwa Moledina is a Muslim artist of Yemeni-Tanzanian heritage. She was raised in Dubai and currently lives and works in the UK.
Moledina’s works draw inspiration from art history, architecture, and her diverse heritage. They prominently feature recurring patterns influenced by characteristics of Islamic design: symmetry, abstraction, and recurrence. Often materialising as expansive textile-based installations suspended in space, framed compositions, or more recently, spaces for reflection inspired by traditional floor seating in Arab and Muslim households.
Moledina has exhibited widely in the UK, including at Ikon Gallery, Arnolfini Arts, and The New Art Gallery Walsall, and internationally during the Lahore Biennale and at 421 – a gallery space in Abu Dhabi. Her work has found a place in esteemed collections such as the Government Art Collection, The Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, The New Art Gallery Walsall, and private art collectors.
